What's good right nowComfort food is the order of the day - soups, casseroles and pies enjoyed fireside.Winter veggies including pumpkin, potatoes, rhubarb, carrots, leeks, onions and spinach. In the NewsChardonnay on the Mountain
As part of the alliance of Adelaide Hills Food with wine and tourism, several of our members represented the region at the first of a series of varietal weekends. Sparkling and Chardonnay was the focus for the weekend, kicking off on Friday night at the Adelaide Wine Centre which by all reports was highly successful and there were various events around the hills region over the weekend. Eight winemakers gathered at the Coachhouse at Mt Lofty House on the Saturday and Sunday including Lobethal Road, K1 and Henshckes along with Adelaide Hills Food, HQ Cuisine and Adelaide Hills Gourmet. Adelaide Hills Food offered tastings of some of the regions premier products being well represented by Hahndorf Venison, Cocolat, Woodside Cheesewrights, Bird in Hand, Taste @ Hahndorf and the Adelaide Hills Market. We were certainly blessed with great weather and those who attended the weekend enjoyed discovering more about the region and what it has to offer in terms of food and wine. Following the success of this first weekend Adelaide Hills Food will be offering its members opportunities to showcase and sell their products at future events. The next varietal weekend is Winter Reds on the 25th and 26th July. If you are interested in being involved in the Winter Reds weekend please contact Sarina Waterman sarina@marketsatheart.com or 0434 679 158. .Austrade presence at National Restaurant AssociationFor the fourth year running, Austrade hosted an Australian Pavilion at May's National Restaurant Association event in Chicago.
